Touch VPN Free VPN 2019 for Chrome — Review & Test

Touch VPN or TouchVPN for Chrome is an add-on which will help you unblock online content and at the same time hide your IP location. It’s a basic VPN solution with the quite questionable privacy policy and app’s ownership.

We have found out that TouchVPN was acquired by company Anchor Free (owner of Hotspot Shield VPN) in 2015. It seems that since then, Anchor Free stopped promoting this brand and mainly stopped supporting the Chrome platform.

Even though it’s still listed on their website as a supported platform, the download button will direct you to Google Play Store!

Anyway, you’ll still be able to use their VPN service on Chrome Web Browser, just since the service seems abandoned (last update: October 31, 2018), we would recommend you to rather check other VPN for Chrome solutions.

After reviewing Touch VPN, we have found out that service’s performance, features, server network, and offerings mainly depend on the platform or operating system you decide to use. In case of the Chrome browser extension, there are fewer servers and features available compared to Windows or Android app.

While the speed wasn’t that bad, the privacy concerns are just too much to overcome. So, if you need to use a VPN to prevent vital information from being exposed on the Internet, try to avoid Touch VPN.  If you just need to unblock a restricted content quickly, it might be fine as a one-off solution.

Touch VPN for Chrome Available Locations

The Chrome browser extension has seven available locations (United States, Russia, Germany, Canada, United Kingdom, France and Netherlands).

Keep in mind that this is not a real VPN application and it won’t encrypt completely your bandwidth (e.g. BitTorrent, games, FTP client) to do so you have to download Free VPN client or buy a VPN service or check at least our comparison of best VPNs for Chrome.

Pricing & Discounts – How much does Touch VPN Premium Account cost?

Touch VPN is completely free for all platforms (including the Chrome extension). Just except the iOS ad-free version which cost $29.99 a year.

User Interface – Is Touch VPN easy to use?

Touch VPN is quite straight forward, all elements are well located and use of it is very simple. What we like is a couple of extra things which are not really common amongst other VPN Chrome add-ons. It’s an overview of your current speed and bandwidth – nice touch! On the other hand, what we did not like is the look of it, the Extensions is quite old fashioned, which go hand in hand what we mentioned at the beginning of the article – the app seems abandoned.

The Chrome add-on is also quite feature-rich. It has an ad blocker, trackers blocker, cookies blocker, malware blocker, WebRTC blocker, and the ability to bypass the local network. Users can choose to sign in or remain anonymous, although they should be aware that any data they choose to share with the app will most likely be stored, as per the privacy policy.

Does Touch VPN for Chrome Unblock YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, Amazon Prime, & BBC iPlayer?

During our testing, Touch VPN worked well with YouTube, Google, and Facebook. Unfortunately, we have not been able to connect to Netflix and Hulu.

Hola Free VPN for Chrome doesn't unblock Netflix

Touch VPN for Chrome doesn’t unblock Netflix

The same problem we had with BBC iPlayer but that wasn’t a big surprise since BBC iPlayer blocks nearly all VPN services, except HideMyAss VPN which recently even announced new feature IP Stickinees for Improved Netflix and BBC iPlayer streaming.

How to add Touch VPN to Chrome Browser?

Adding Touch VPN to your Google Chrome Browser is really easy, all you need to do is follow these 3 simple steps below

  1. Go to Touch VPN Chrome Store page.
  2. Click the button “Add to Chrome” in right upper corner of the overlay window.
  3. All done! Enjoy Touch VPN for Chrome 🚀

Touch VPN has no data caps, is quite speedy and offers a set of most popular locations. But what is a major no go from our side is questionable privacy policy and ownership of this Add-on, which as we pointed out in our review, seems almost abandoned from developer’s side. That’s why we really recommend you to avoid this addon.  Also as you can see below, the app is quite far from being trustworthy.
