During our test of Avast SecureLine VPN, we have noted there is one new server location which has been added recently. It's Gotham City, the home of Batman. It has been added secretly without any official information. What is this secret location for?
The label for this location inside the user interface says “The server is optimized for video streaming“. In other words “Use this when watching Netflix, HBO GO or Hulu“. However, the real location of the server is always New York, no matter if you are watching the online stream in Europe or Asia.
That may be causing some serious delays and slowdowns of your connection, so we only recommend using this when you are actually located within the US, or you need to access some US-only content. We have been testing the new server for a while and seems to be working very smooth.
Together with the new location, there is also a completely new section inside the user interface called “Streaming”, but so far there is only Gotham City. We hope that more servers will be added, especially one for the United Kingdom which will support BBC iPlayer.
There was no official communication from Avast and there is nothing as well on the Avast Forum. However, the location is listed on the official product page of Avast SecureLine VPN with no additional information on what exactly it means.
Gotham City is available for all Avast SecureLine VPN versions including Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.

Perhaps the UK will get a VPN server in Camelot.
